Glossary
- Cubic Yard – A standard imperial unit for measuring concrete volume, equal to 27 cubic feet or approximately 0.765 cubic metres.
- PSI – Pounds per square inch, a measure of concrete compressive strength. Common grades include 2500, 3000, 4000, and 5000 PSI.
- Slump – A measure of concrete consistency and workability, determined by how much a fresh concrete cone settles after the mould is removed.
- Aggregate – Granular materials such as sand, gravel, or crushed stone used as a filler in concrete mixes, typically making up 60% to 80% of volume.
- Water-Cement Ratio – The ratio of water mass to cement mass in a concrete mix. Lower ratios produce stronger concrete but are harder to work.
- Curing – The process of maintaining adequate moisture and temperature in freshly placed concrete to enable proper hydration and strength gain.
- Rebar – Steel reinforcing bars embedded in concrete to provide tensile strength, since concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension.
- Ready-Mix – Concrete that is batch-mixed at a plant and delivered to the construction site in a rotating drum truck, ready to pour.
- Compression Strength – The maximum compressive load concrete can withstand before failure, typically measured at 28 days of curing.
- Admixture – Chemicals added to concrete to modify properties such as setting time, workability, durability, or resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.

Choose the shape
Select Slab for rectangular pours or Column for cylindrical pours like fence posts and round footings.

Enter dimensions in any unit
Type in the length, width, and thickness (or height and diameter for columns). Use the unit dropdowns to switch between metres, feet, inches, or centimetres.

Set the waste factor
Enter a waste percentage (5–10% recommended) to account for spillage, compaction, and uneven subgrades. The adjusted volume shows how much concrete you should actually order.

Select the mix ratio (materials mode)
In Materials mode, pick your mix ratio – 1:2:3 for general construction, 1:1.5:3 for structural elements, or 1:3:6 for lean fill.

The calculator displays volume with and without waste, bag counts for three bag sizes, and (in relevant modes) ready-mix truck loads or cement/sand/aggregate quantities.
