How to Use?
- 1
Select calculation mode
Choose whether you want to calculate cost from appliance power (default), find appliance power from a known monthly cost, or determine your effective electricity rate.
- 2
Enter the appliance power
Enter the wattage of your appliance (find it on the label or manual). You can switch between watts, kilowatts, and BTU/h using the unit dropdown. This field is hidden if you selected "Power from cost and usage" mode.
- 3
Enter usage and rate details
Enter the average time the appliance runs each day (in hours or minutes), the number of days per month, and your electricity rate per kWh. The rate field is hidden if you selected "Electricity rate" mode.
- 4
Switch calculation mode
Use the Calculate dropdown to toggle between the three modes. When you switch modes, only the relevant inputs stay visible. For example, switching to "Power from cost and usage" hides the power field and shows the monthly cost field instead.
- 5
Compare multiple appliances
Run the calculator separately for each appliance in your home, then add up the monthly costs for a complete household estimate. Focus on high-wattage devices like air conditioners, heaters, and dryers for the biggest savings opportunities.
- 6
View your results
See monthly usage in kWh, monthly cost, daily cost, and yearly cost. The cost meter below the results shows your monthly cost on a visual gauge. Results update automatically as you change any input.
