If the result exceeds 100%, the target is not achievable with the current standing. For example, 82% current grade and 30% exam weight require 108.7% on the final — mathematically impossible, so you should adjust your target to a B+ or B.

Use the Course Score Aggregator with the Weight (%) mode. Set the number of components to match the assessment categories in your syllabus. Enter each component name, its weight percentage, the raw score, and the maximum marks. The calculator applies the weighted average formula and shows the total, percentage, letter grade, and GPA equivalent. The Weight (%) mode accounts for each component’s contribution proportionally.

A weighted grading scheme assigns a percentage to each assessment category that reflects its importance in the final course grade. The sum of all weights is 100%. For example, a scheme might assign 20% to homework, 30% to quizzes, 20% to the midterm, and 30% to the final exam. Your course grade is the sum of each category score multiplied by its weight. Weighted schemes are standard in US and international higher education.

Use the Course Score Aggregator. Count the total number of graded components. Set the Number of Components and enter each component’s name, raw score, and maximum marks. The calculator computes the total raw score, total maximum marks, and overall percentage. If your institution requires the aggregate on a specific scale (e.g., out of 50), enter the target in the Scale Total field.

Many institutions require final aggregates to be reported on a standard scale, such as out of 50 or out of 100, even when the individual components have different maximum marks. The scaling feature normalises the aggregate to your chosen denominator. For example, components worth 20 + 25 + 15 = 60 total marks can be scaled to 50, producing a result of (total raw / 60) × 50. This is common in Pakistani universities following HEC guidelines and in other systems where standardised reporting is required across courses with different component structures.

Manually exclude the lowest component from your entry. Reduce the Number of Components by one and omit the lowest-scoring component. Alternatively, you can set the dropped component’s score and max marks to zero, which effectively removes it from the total. The calculator does not automatically detect and drop the lowest score because the decision of which score to drop depends on your specific policy.

In the Course Score Aggregator, add an extra component with the extra credit marks as the raw score and the maximum possible extra credit as the max marks. If the extra credit is applied after the final grade is calculated, use the Final Exam Needed mode with a higher target grade to account for its effect.

Use the Course Score Aggregator instead of the Final Exam Needed mode. The aggregator handles any set of components, whether or not a final exam is among them. List all graded components — for example, assignments, projects, and class participation — and the calculator computes the total and percentage for you.

Each course grade maps to GPA grade points on a standard 4.0 scale: A (90–100%) = 4.0, B (80–89%) = 3.0, C (70–79%) = 2.0, D (60–69%) = 1.0, F (below 60%) = 0.0. The grade points are multiplied by the course credit hours to compute quality points, which are then summed across all courses and divided by total credit hours to produce the term GPA. Your CGPA (Cumulative GPA) extends this across all completed terms: the total quality points from every course you have taken are divided by the total credit hours attempted. This calculator shows the GPA equivalent for the computed course grade so you can see how it contributes to your overall academic record and eventual CGPA.

Use the Final Exam Needed mode when you have a current course grade, know the final exam weight, and want to know what score you need to achieve a target. Use the Course Score Aggregator when you are a teacher or student compiling raw scores from multiple graded components and need the total, percentage, or scaled result.

Check whether any assessment category is missing from your entry or whether a component like participation or attendance is graded separately. Some syllabi include a “buffer” category such as “Instructor Discretion” that accounts for the remaining percentage. If you are certain the weights are correct, the calculator normalises the results by dividing by the actual total weight entered, so the output remains accurate as long as the relative proportions are correctly represented.

The calculator is designed for percentage-based grading schemes. For pass/fail courses, use the Course Score Aggregator to determine whether the aggregate percentage meets the pass threshold. If the pass threshold is 60%, and the aggregated result is 58%, the student has not met the pass requirement. The letter grade and GPA outputs are not meaningful for pass/fail courses and should be ignored.

None (Raw Sum) adds all raw scores and divides by the total maximum marks to produce a percentage. Each component contributes proportionally to its point value. Weight (%) mode lets you assign a percentage weight to each component that reflects its importance, independent of its raw point value — useful when components have different maximums but you want specific contribution levels. Scale To mode assigns a custom scale value to each component, converting every component to a common denominator before summing — ideal when components need to be normalised to the same scale before aggregation.

Yes. Midterm exams, sessional exams, and terminal exams are treated as regular components in the Course Score Aggregator. Enter the midterm score as the raw score and its total possible marks as the max marks. If your institution weights the midterm differently from other components, switch to the Weight (%) mode and assign each exam its correct percentage weight. This works for any number of exams and any combination of component types across a semester.
